Meet Joy Vyas: Our Newest Trustee

We’re excited to welcome Joy to the Envision Board of Trustees! Joy brings a unique blend of skills and experiences, along with a strong commitment to creating opportunities for young people. Read below to hear his journey and the reasons why he’s so passionate about our mission at Envision.

A Dynamic Career Path

Joy lives in Southeast London with his wife, two children, and their puppy. He is currently Managing Director, Equity Sales at Bernstein, but his professional path is as diverse as it is impressive. He is a chartered accountant with an MBA from London Business School, and he recently completed a CFA in ESG. His career spans industries from music to oil & gas to banking, with roles ranging from DJ and music promoter to Finance Manager and now Sales. Reflecting on his varied experiences, he acknowledges that he is now on his 5th career.

For Joy, work isn’t just about clocking in and out. We spend a lot of time at work so you must enjoy what you do or be relentless in your pursuit of finding the role you love! His ability to adapt and learn has been key to his success across sectors. But rest assured, he remains fully committed to his current role (just in case his boss is reading this.)

Inspired by Envision’s Mission

Joy’s personal experiences growing up in Southeast London shaped his perspective. ‘As a young student I had little exposure to thewide range of career opportunities  available.’ This sparked his passion for opening doors and creating  opportunities for others so that they have the ability to make informed  choices. This is why Envision’s mission resonates so deeply with him.

“Envision provides young people with a window into worlds that would not otherwise be available to them,” Joy explains. He believes businesses miss out by not recruiting from more diverse pools of talent and Envision helps to bridge that gap by supporting young people to develop their essential skills, while being supported by diverse teams of mentors. Having been a mentor with Envision for the past seven years, he is a strong advocate for the work we do!

Bringing Expertise to the Board

Joy’s vast professional experience, particularly in building successful partnerships, will be invaluable to Envision. With a strong track record in Finance and Sales, Joy hopes to help Envision secure the partners and resources needed to continue empowering young people. “I hope I can use my skills to ensure that Envision has all the resources it needs to help young people grow,” he says.

A Passion for Levelling the Playing Field

At the heart of Joy’s involvement with Envision is a desire to level the playing field. He’s particularly passionate about creating equal opportunities for all. It’s natural for people to help those they know but “We must spread that love.” Joy sees Envision as a vehicle for spreading that support to those from all backgrounds, ensuring everyone has a chance to succeed based on talent and hard work, not just connections.

Looking Ahead

As a trustee, Joy is excited about what lies ahead for Envision. He aims to increase the number of young people the charity helps by expanding Envision’s network of corporate partners. He’s also committed to strengthening our financial health, ensuring that we continue to grow with impact.

“I hope to help build an even more robust balance sheet that ensures the good work of Envision goes from strength to strength,” he says.
