Envision gets on The Wave
Envision representatives were invited to an exclusive meeting with Ed Miliband as part of The Wave, a huge march through central London to put pressure on the Government ahead of the Climate Summit in Copenhagen later this month.
Grad reporter Asia and Team Mentor Rhoda carried the Envision banner on a route from Grosvenor Square to the Houses of Parliament, before heading to a private meeting with Ed Miliband and other representatives from the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition.
Asia writes: "Here we were at ‘The Wave’. It was half past twelve on a Saturday when we set off on our mission; a mission to tackle Climate Change and let the MPs hear our voices. We were all here gathered in Grosvenor Square marching slowly towards Parliament, all fifty thousand of us. Rhoda and I held the big ‘Envision’ banner appropriately blue and waving in the wind. It blended in amongst the sea of blue; blue clothes, blue faces and hands cheering and dancing as we progressed. The mood was cheery and everyone was determined for the cause, even amongst the light rain and grey skies overhead.
"After the march and a few practiced dance moves to ‘push the button of the World… don’t hold back!’ we headed to City Hall. It was time to hear Ed Miliband, the Secretary for the Department of Energy and Climate Change voice his opinions on what decisions must be taken, and to hear him defend himself eloquently, humbly and what we hope is honestly against the interrogation by various NGO’s and Charities about what the British government is doing to tackle Climate Change. It was obvious they wanted serious change, no more unfulfilled promises, but policies and action that will meet the scale of the problem and for Britain to lead the way forward."
