Happy 25th Birthday Volunteers’ Week!
Fri 10 Jul 2009
Envision has been named as a partner charity for Volunteers’ Week 2009. Volunteers' Week is a national celebration of volunteers and volunteering which takes place from 1st – 7th June of each year. This year, Volunteers' Week celebrated its 25th anniversary, and Envision is very excited to be one of their partner charities this year. This means we were rubbing shoulders with groups as diverse as the Red Cross, the Campaign for Rural England and the Citizens’ Advice Bureau.
This is a great recognition of the work that Envision’s young people and Team Mentors do and the huge amount of time and energy they plough into making their projects work.
One thing links all the partner charities – the great appreciation we have for people who give up their time to help, educate and inspire others. Too often volunteers don’t get the thanks they deserve, but even a quick look through the messages posted here shows just how much of a difference they make to organisations and individuals.
So thanks once more to all our volunteers for being part of the 72% of Londoners who volunteer each year and well done to Volunteers’ Week for raising the profile of volunteering in The Guardian, The Mirror and the Metro, among others.
