Frances Bardsley's messages of hope

Amnesty

"Big is not always best, as the Envision group at Frances Bardsley Sixth Form learnt this Christmas (writes team member Nicola)...

"As our debut event, we didn't want to choose anything overly adventurous but something that would get the students involved and make an impact. After hearing about Amnesty International's Greetings Cards campaign, and with an already burning passion for the protection of human rights, we thought: "Yes, this will be perfect!"

"So, with our greetings cards in hand, we delivered a short talk to each class on the work of Amnesty International, before giving the students the opportunity to write a supportive message to the people from our chosen case studies. It was a real success: lots of enthusiasm was shown and we ended up with huge piles of cards; and, equally important, it raised awareness - as the majority of the students hadn't even heard of AI.

"Now, with triumph under our belt, we move forward... to assemblies by Amnesty speakers for the 1000 or so students in our school. The excitement is mounting!"

Congratulations to the whole Frances Bardsley team and we look forward to seeing what you do next!
