The Emirates Stadium plays host to our energetic London Kick Off!
Sporting action was replaced with social action at the Emirates Stadium yesterday, as it played host to our exciting London Kick Off event!
Over 300 young changemakers from across London assembled at the iconic stadium, ready to get inspired for the Envision year ahead.
First off was a whirl of dynamic stalls and activities for the students to get involved with. With the event falling during Parliament Week, a popular activity was the Give Issues The Boot ballpit. This was where students wrote the issue they most wanted prioritised in Parliament on plastic balls that they then got to give the boot to and kick into the pit. Students also flocked towards Team Mentor and Grad Travis (read his story here)’s brilliant Spoken Word workshop.
Envision Grads Keshav and Amrit made a dynamic duo as the hosts of the event, leading a ceremony which also featured speeches from John Paul Flintoff, author of How To Change The World, and Yas Necati, an 18-year old feminist campaigner who was recently named one of the BBC’s 100 Women of 2014.
Hip hop legend Genesis Elijah and street dancer Watson Brown then added to the already palpable energy in the stadium with brilliantly lively performances.
The Kick Off was a huge success, and we'd like to say a massive thank you to Arsenal for donating the stadium as its venue. It struck us as an appropriately epic setting for the monumental things our London students are set to achieve!
