Agents 4 Action
The Agents 4 Action programme is an interactive citizenship half day that has been designed to engage young people with a number of citizenship and sustainability themes and inspire them to become leaders.
The workshop facilitators will coach awareness, curiosity, discussion, cooperation, persuasion, creativity and project design. Games, group activities, role play, conversation, video and presentations are used to help young people develop their understanding of sustainability issues and explore ways to make a difference.
The programme consists of three sections entitled: Provoke, Inspire, and Create.
- Provoke: students consider what’s going on in the world and what they think about it. Through activities and games they explore their opinions, expand their knowledge of sustainability issues and get a chance to creatively express their hopes and fears for the future.
- Inspire: students learn about inspirational leaders and change makers and a video highlights ways in which young people have taken on the responsibility of being change makers – with the aim of inspiring others to do the same. Role plays develop students’ understanding of actions and consequences and skills around persuasive argument.
- Create: students work in teams to plan a project idea based on a social or environmental issue of their choice with the help of project planning tools and adult facilitators. Having developed their ideas each team delivers a presentation to an “Apprentice-style” panel of judges who provide constructive feedback and encourage project implementation.
The 3-hour off-timetable programme can work with small or large groups of students and leaves them enthusiastic about continuing to make a difference. The programme is targeted towards students in years 10 to 13 but can be adapted for younger groups.
"An innovative, student-centred approach to encouraging young people to engage with the key issues facing society today. Extremely well-organised with enthusiastic and well informed facilitators, I would recommend this without reservation."
